Snap On blade cleaning and maintenance
Clean Snap On blades when the cutting performance decreases or when, for example, hair gets between the blades and the shaving head plucks.
Maintenance and care of A5 (Snap On or Clip) blades
- To do this, push the blade more than halfway to one side and clean the gap thoroughly with the cleaning brush.
- Then slide the blade to the other side and repeat the process.
- Push the blade back and oil the shaving head.
Thorough cleaning
If the blade still does not cut after simple maintenance, there is a hair between the precision blades exactly in the middle, please remove the blade completely by pushing it all the way out. Clean the plates thoroughly with a soft cloth (toilet paper is best) and replace the blade (follow the instructions for blade replacement).
Shearing blade guide and blade replacement
When you change the blades (possible in ceramic or steel for GogiPet blades) or replace the blade guide (white here, but can also be black or grey depending on the manufacturer).
- Slide the blade completely out of the clamp.
- Replace the (plastic) blade guide and/or the replacement blade.
To replace the blade, lift the clamp slightly with a flat screwdriver. (Do not overstretch when lifting slightly).
Just high enough for you to push the blade back in.
Insert the blade approximately in the middle and oil the shaving head
Important note!
Never open the screws on the front of the blade, you will adjust the plate pressure and render the clipper head unusable.
Oil Snap On blades every 5-10 minutes to avoid overheating, especially with newer clippers with a faster stroke rate, blades heat up very quickly.
Extra cooling and oiling sprays specially developed for blades are recommended, as you can continue working immediately without having to wipe off the oil.

Applications of the blades with Snap On (A5) system
Suitable for all clippers that work with standard blades. (Snap On or also called A5 or Clip blades.
Here you will find the A5 blades, the most popular A5 blades are also available as titanium shear heads with ceramic blades.
The information given here should only be a guide, it is of course a matter of taste and it always depends on the density of the coat.
Before each clipping, the dog should be well washed and brushed out.

Snap On Blades with Clip System
What is a Snap On blade?
This blade is, although known under different names such as Snap On blade, A5 blade, Clip blade, basically always the same blade and can be changed between different manufacturers, so you are independent and not bound to price increases of individual manufacturers. The Snap On blade is almost maintenance-free (apart from oiling and cleaning) and has therefore become THE standard. With clippers that have their own blade system, you are usually tied to the manufacturer. For small part clippers and paw clippers, however, special clipper heads are always used due to the size of the clipper head.
Blades with F or without F?
From size 7 (3.2mm) onwards, there are Snap On blades with and without the suffix F. The blades without F (Skip Tooth) are coarser blades, where, simply spoken, every second tooth is missing. With these blades it is easier to get through the coat, which is not completely smooth and mat-free. For the finishing (the last clipping) you use a blade with the suffix F (Full Tooth) which combs and smooths the coat during the clipping to obtain a fine cut. For the shorter blades, the toothing is described with the respective blade, which uses a special toothing.
How a blade works?
A blade basically behaves like a comb. The blade can only cut where the blade can glide through the coat. This means that if the coat is still matted, you can only cut up to approx. 5 mm or shorter. You can't cut into matts and tangles itself, that doesn't work technically.
Standard or titanium coating?
Titanium-coated blades glide better through the coat and the special coating keeps the blade sharp longer and generates less heat. GogiPet offers the most popular blades with titanium coating and ceramic blade. If the blade is used very often, then it is definitely worth buying a titanium-coated blade. Disadvantage: The coating and the ceramic blade make the blade more expensive than the standard A5 blade.
Attachment combs Yes or No?
It is always better to use a real blade, because a steel blade has robust teeth and does not cut steps into the coat even if it is resistant. However, if the coat has been prepared well enough for a comb to glide through it without problems, clip-on combs can also be used. But if an attachment comb encounters matting, you will cut a very visible step in hair. Clip-on combs are designed for finishing, as a finishing touch, and not for a complete clipping.
What to do if the blade no longer cuts properly?
Please note the correct care and maintenance of A5 blades.
Dog groomer Vienna advice:
To reduce wear and tear on blades and to ensure that they cut and glide for a long time, oil everything for 10 minutes. The easiest way to do this is to use an oil and cooling spray that you can spray on the blade and the blades and continue working immediately.
Small hairs at delivery are possible as every single GogiPet blade is factory tested on test material, it is not a used blade.
