Why are marigolds in Bubbles & Nature dog shampoos?

The Latin name for the marigold is Calendula officinalis and is derived from the Latin term calendae, which means the first day of the month. The plant and its healing effects were already known in ancient Rome. The essential oil of calendula, from which all colouring is removed, is used in dog care products mainly because it is effective against microbes that settle in the dog's skin and on the dog's hair, especially on wounds caused by scratching and excessive licking. Calendula extracts accelerate the formation of new healthy cells. Saponins prevent the nesting of fungi in the skin, which are often found especially in the area between the claws and on the inner upper side of the legs. Because of the titepenoalcohols that prevent or reduce inflammation, the use of calendula is common in the treatment of skin lesions. Calendula does not irritate the skin or hair. The polysaccharides contained in calendula also stimulate the immune system.
