What can you do about mats and how do you get rid of them?

Combing and brushing alone often isn't enough—knots or small tangles can form quickly in the coat. If you act early, you can simply spray GogiPet Magic Care and brush them out.

How do knots and mats form in the coat?

Mats are caused by dirty hair sticking together, often worsened by static electricity. To remove them, the hair must be cleaned—depending on the severity, with cosmetic and mechanical methods.

How can you prevent matting?

The better the coat is maintained, the harder it is for mats to form. We've had the best results by regularly brushing a small amount of GogiPet® Magic Care into the coat. GogiPet Magic Care coats each hair from root to tip, making it harder for dirt to cling. At the same time, the coat is well-nourished and protected from UV rays. With this all-rounder against mats, you're well equipped. How are knots and minor mats removed?

If the matting isn't too advanced, you can spray the knots and small mats with GogiPet® Magic Care - Multifunctional Coat Care Spray and detangle them using a comb or detangler. For stubborn mats, the Bubbles & Nature Detangling Spray and Leave-in Balm works best. It penetrates deep into the mat and its silk proteins help break down the mat from within. What to do if the matting is already advanced?

If mats are already present, bathe your dog twice with the long hair dog shampoo and then let the mask sit for 10 minutes. If you have a dog dryer (blower), use it to lift the mats away from the skin—only then should you use mechanical detanglers to remove the mats.
