Differences between the GogiPet clippers
First you should ask yourself for what purpose you need the clippers. Do you want to clipper a complete pet or only areas such as paws, knot removal or other parts. Do you need the dog clippers or cat clippers regularly like the pet groomer or do you need clippers for private use?
These clippers are suitable for partial and complete clipping of small and large pets. These clippers are therefore intended as dog clippers, cat clippers, rabbit clippers, guinea pig clippers etc. and are used professionally and semi-professionally (pet groomer / private clipper).
If you need a clipper as a pet groomer or privately for a large dog or for a dog or cat with a demanding coat, you should go for this slightly larger, but still lighter and quieter clipper than from most competitors. Even if you need another or additional clipper and already own blades from Oster, Wahl, Optimum Clipsystem, GogiPet Clipsystem, Moser, Heiniger, Andis, AGC or other clippers with clip (Snap On blade) system, the GogiPet Horus clipper is recommended with the standard A5 blades as they are compatible.
Advantage: You can use existing SnapOn blades which are far less maintenance. GogiPet original even offers titanium-coated blades with ceramic blade, which are extra smooth-running and greatly reduce heat development. The proven system has been successfully used by hairdressers and pet groomers for many years. For mat-free coats, inexpensive attachment combs can also be used for the different cutting lengths. For cats, the (A5) Snap On system is more advantageous as the blades are somewhat finer. The GogiPet Horus is extra light and has an external power supply. Since it is cable-operated, there are no additional costs for used batteries.
Disadvantage: Compared to the GogiPet Orate, the Horus is heavier and not quite as manoeuvrable due to the wider blades and the cable.
The GogiPet Tornado TC517 is a paw clipper with a narrow blade. For shaving between the pads, a paw clipper is recommended instead of paw scissors to avoid accidentally cutting the skin between the toes while removing matted knots. A paw clipper is also often used for the intimate area, armpits, and for shaving the muzzle smoothly.
Advantage: A true hybrid paw clipper that can be operated not only with a battery but also directly from the socket. The highlight of the GogiPet Tornado is that you can also adjust the speed to suit the sensitivity of the animal. The paw clipper is very light and extremely low in vibration, so it doesn't tickle during clipping
Disadvantage: Unlike the GogiPet Orate and Horus, only one length of the narrow blade is available for a paw clipper, which can simply be replaced when it becomes dull.
The GogiPet Orate belongs to the partial range of clippers and is the perfect complement to the larger, heavier clippers. It is extra light in the hand and extremely quiet. If the dog or cat is completely mat-free, the GogiPet Orate can also be used for complete clipping without any problems. In the pet grooming salon, the GogiPet Orate is used as a partial dog clipper. For personal use, the GogiPet Orate is very popular for complete clipping due to its extra good price-performance ratio, which is why the GogiPet Orate is the most popular of our dog and cat clippers among private users. The GogiPet Orate uses its own extra fine and light precision blades and is the best clipper in its class. Due to the extra fine teeth, the GogiPet Orate is also the safest clipper to use and can easily be used by inexperienced users.
The GogiPet Orate has also become so popular with pet groomers due to its manoeuvrability that GogiPet has responded to the request for longer blades that cut optimally on felt-free animals. The GogiPet Orate thus closes the gap in extra light, manoeuvrable clippers with battery and mains operation.
Conclusion:
GogiPet Horus best suited for dog and cat clipping and compatible with most standard shearing heads from other brands.
GogiPet Orate ideal for dogs and cats for private dog and cat clipping and the perfect complementary clipper for pet groomers and vets.
GogiPet clippers offer many advantages over most of the competition.- Are very quiet
- Are very light
- Are also very suitable for anxious pets due to different speeds
If you only want to clipper smaller areas, we recommend the GogiPet Orate clipper, which is even lighter and can be used with both battery and mains power. This clipper has extra low vibration and is therefore also suitable for paws because it does not tickle. The blades of the GogiPet Orate can also be changed and it is the most popular of its kind among private users.

Successfully style dogs with a dog clipper.
Our dog groomer explains how to do a dog harness correctly.
With the purchase of a pet clipper (shearing machine) it is not done, simply switch on the pet clipper and start a clipp works in the fewest cases.
Our professional dog hairdresser with years of experience in dog grooming and dog styling has put together valuable advices for you to make sure that clipp will work.
Here are the basic tips on how a clipper works
The preparation:
Before you can start with the pet clipper, the coat must be clean and free of mats and tangles, please note that you cannot cut into mats but only underneath the felted area(s). The clipp can only be done as long as the felt is removed from the skin.
Shearing heads (blades) become blunt very quickly if the coat is not cleaned well before.
The dog must be bathed well before. First the pre-wash is to do to remove the coarsest dirt and excess grease. Then rinse the coat well and shampoo the dog a second time to get the coat in the right condition.
The dog groomer usually uses the universal shampoo for the first shampooing and the breed specific shampoo for the second shampooing (black, white, brown...) If you bathe the dog at home, you can of course use the breed specific shampoo twice, but it is important that you shampoo twice.
How to do:
The water temperature should be between 37 and 38 degrees (not lukewarm, which is too cold for the dog). Put the shower head on the coat and soak the coat well. (The shower head should always be held very close to the body, so it is comfortable for the dog, do not bring water into the ears, if necessary use a cotton ball to plug them).
For shorter hairs, it is best to use a rubber brush and massage the shampoo back and forth to remove loose hair. For longer hairs, brush the shampoo in the direction of growth (do not brush back and forth - you would confuse the hair even more instead of untangling it). Rinse out the shampoo.
Repeat the steps and try to loosen knots already now with the brush, then rinse the shampoo thoroughly. (If your dog has some more mats and tangels, it is best to use the longhair shampoo, this loosens the knots best)
It depends. For dogs that have a lot of volume in the coat, use the volume balm, it also helps to keep the hair upright when clipping and shear cutting.
In case of long hanging hair or with all dogs that have mats and tangels in their fur, it is essential that you use for the dog a hair mask. (the mask does not need to be washed out thoroughly, it helps to remove felt and prevents new felt, just rinse a little).
With long hair, it is important that you do not rub back and forth, otherwise you would confuse the hair and have to untangle it again with difficulty. Therefore, spread the water in the direction of growth or suck off the water by pressing. The GogiPet magic towel is best suited for this purpose as it absorbs a lot of water and can be used again immediately until the dog is as dry as possible.
Now the actual drying proces , de-mating and brushing starts. Ideally, a dog dryer is used for this, as it does not dry the coat, but blows the water out of the coat together with the dirt and lime residues and also dissolves mats and tangles. At the same time you should remove felt and knots with mechanical means.
With stubborn mats you have to proceed relatively radically if it can't be loosened, use a mat cuter (mat breaker) to cut the plates open.
Larger knots can be cut into pieces with the knot cutter (mat splitter) until you can finally untangle them with an untangling hook. Then brush out smaller knots, only when you can glide through the coat with the dog comb is the coat ready for clipping.
If your dog breed has undercoat, this will be completely or partially removed with the Coat Master.
Brush the coat against the direction of growth and cut the coat in the direction of growth, then brush against the direction of growth again and cut again in the direction of growth. Then do the same again to get a smooth and even clipp.
Always pay attention to the direction of growth, because if you cut once with and once against the line you will get different lengths. (Only in dog breeds where the coat cannot be combed up, the shearing is done against the direction of growth, but also here consistently against the direction of growth, but these are exceptions)
Please note:
It looks better if the legs are longer than the body shape, so the legs are usually cut with scissors. Legs also look better with a scissors cut, because you can style the legs (even if they are crooked) visually nice and straight. The transitions from the shorter body to the longer legs are worked with modelling scissors (thinning scissors) to create an even (invisible) transition. For most breeds, the tail is also best trimmed with the modelling scissors (thinning scissors).
The hair on the ears and between the pads is best removed with a paw clipper, as they are very low in vibration and do not tickle, very experienced dog groomers can also do this with paw scissors, but a paw clipper, is always safer.
These are the basic tips that our dog groomer has put together for you to be able to perform a successful clipping.
Get your dog excited about clipping. Your dog knows very well that he is beautifully made, we have seen many dogs strut proudly from our dog salons, most of all he is happy about a reward. How about as praise for the good cooperation with a Fair Trade dog toy?
Personal experience with clippers
Personal experience with clippers in the clipper comparison
Our experience with the pet clippers is based on reports and experiences in our dog salon, our pet groomer partners, our pet groomer school, our customers (both pet groomers, veterinarians and private users) and our well-known dog breeders.
Top clippers for professionals:
- Heiniger Opal
- Heiniger Saphir
- Andis corded clippers
- Andis cordless clippers
- Andis hybrid clippers
- Aesculap Favorita
- Aesculap Fav5
- GogiPet Horus
For dog groomers who work continuously, these clippers are the only options to consider. You can use these clippers in continuous operation without any issues. Repairs have been almost nonexistent, even though they are our best-selling clippers.
Differences between leading dog clippers:
The Heiniger Opal has now overtaken all other clippers for the top spot. It is the best-selling cordless clipper, and Heiniger also offers a 2-year warranty. In terms of speed, noise level, and battery performance, the Heiniger Opal is unbeatable. Closely following in second place are the Heiniger Saphir models, which mainly differ in design and features, but are technically identical.
The new generation of clippers from Andis has also significantly improved in quality and has now surpassed Aesculap, the former leader, into third place. With the Andis beSpoke, there is now a clipper that can be charged wirelessly. The Andis Pulse ZR II generation offers five speed settings and can be perfectly adjusted for sensitive animals, while the Andis eMERGE completes the hybrid clipper range at a particularly affordable price.
Aesculap Favorita clippers with their custom-developed slide blade system are especially popular with groomers who are experienced with this system. They, along with the Aesculap Fav5 clippers with the Snap On blade system, stand out particularly for their metal rocker arm, which protects against wear and tear even in continuous operation.
The GogiPet small animal clippers, on the other hand, are impressive for their fantastic price-performance ratio and are particularly lightweight and user-friendly. GogiPet small animal clippers are a favorite among beginner groomers and, due to their lightness and low noise, are often used as a secondary clipper by professional groomers. However, many groomers also exclusively use GogiPet dog clippers on a permanent basis.
Top clippers for breeders:
- GogiPet Orate
- GogiPet Horus
- Andis corded clippers
- Andis hybrid clippers
- Heiniger Saphir clippers
- Optimum Ultra
- Aesculap Durati
- Oster Golden A5
- Wahl KM2
- AGC
The ideal clippers for breeders and part-time dog groomers, these slightly more affordable clippers still deliver excellent performance. Breeders who use clippers for small breeds or only for specific areas are particularly enthusiastic about the GogiPet Orate because it is especially lightweight and performs well with custom-developed blades, even for slightly longer hair. Since clippers for full grooming are typically not used regularly by breeders, a corded clipper like the GogiPet Horus, GogiPet Hathor, or Heiniger Saphir Cord with cord is preferred. Besides being lighter, the maintenance costs are significantly lower as batteries that are not regularly used tend to fail prematurely. Fans of cordless clippers enjoy the Heiniger Saphir models or the Aesculap Durati. The absolute insider tip from our groomers for these Snap On clippers are the GogiPet Titan Ceramic Clip blades, as they are the easiest to use, heat up more slowly, and allow for the ceramic blade to be easily replaced when dull without needing to send the blade for sharpening services.
Differences between professional dog clippers:
The GogiPet dog clippers stand out for their excellent price-performance ratio and represent outstanding quality.
The Heiniger Saphir clippers from Switzerland have been known for their high standard for many years and offer not only a warranty but also a 2-year guarantee.
The Andis corded clippers with 2 speeds are convincing due to their excellent price in the professional clipper class. The also very affordable Andis hybrid clippers are very agile and can be used directly from the power socket if needed, eliminating battery issues.
The Aesculap Durati clipper has been improved with a higher stroke count. However, unlike the traditional Aesculap small animal clippers, the Durati features a plastic rocker arm.
Due to relatively frequent complaints, we no longer carry Oster, Wahl, Moser, and AGC clippers in our program and focus on the top dog clippers because we prioritize animal welfare and proper care.
Clippers for private users:
- GogiPet Orate
- GogiPet Horus
- Heiniger Saphir clippers
- Andis Hybrid clippers
- Optimum Ultra
- Aesculap Durati
For small dog breeds and cat breeds, the GogiPet Orate is highly valued. With proper use, full grooming is also possible, even though the GogiPet Orate was designed as a clipper for specific areas. Since even professional groomers like to use this clipper for full grooming on small dog breeds, GogiPet has also developed longer special blades for the GogiPet Orate, as the included comb attachments are primarily suitable for human hair. When it comes to fine work and specific areas, the GogiPet Orate leads the way because it is particularly small and lightweight and can even be used for full grooming on small dogs and cats if they are thoroughly bathed, brushed, and combed beforehand.
The GogiPet Horus dog and cat clipper is ideal for full grooming and features the well-known Snap On blade system, making the blades compatible with numerous other brand manufacturers. We highly recommend these clippers for private users because they are particularly quiet, and with 2 speed levels, they are also very suitable for anxious dogs.
The Optimum Ultra and Heiniger Saphir Cord are also excellent clippers but are not widely popular among private users due to their higher prices. If you use clippers very often, a cordless clipper, such as the affordable Heiniger Saphir dog clippers with a single battery, might be suitable. However, if you use the clipper only occasionally, we recommend a corded clipper, as batteries wear out quickly when not regularly used. If you cannot decide between battery or cord operation, the Andis eMERGE models are the best choice, allowing you to use them both with or without a cord. Forgetting to charge the battery is a thing of the past with hybrid clippers. Wahl and Moser machines have been removed from our range due to poor reviews.
Differences between premium dog clippers:
GogiPet Orate: For small dog breeds and cat breeds or as a clipper for specific areas. The hybrid clipper can be operated with a battery or directly with power. Special blades available.
GogiPet Horus: Perfect for full grooming and compatible with blades from various brands. Specially developed for the needs of private grooming (small, lightweight, quiet, ergonomic, 2 speeds for anxious animals).
Heiniger Cord and Saphir: Top quality from Switzerland with a 2-year warranty.
Andis Hybrid: Cable or cordless operation for all coat types.
Aesculap Durati: Upon release, the Aesculap Durati was the number 1 in sales for private users due to the trusted Aesculap brand. However, recurring issues have significantly diminished its importance, and it has fallen to last place. Nevertheless, it remains a professional clipper.
Paw Clippers:
Paw clippers are particularly light, quiet, and low in vibration. These small clippers are primarily designed for safely trimming hair between the pads and are especially characterized by barely noticeable vibrations, preventing tickling during grooming. These clippers are also very helpful for smoothing out hair on the ears, muzzle, armpits, intimate and anal areas, and for removing knots that cannot be untangled.
Differences among paw clippers:
The leading option is the GogiPet Tornado Hybrid, which is the only paw clipper with 3 speed settings, making it adaptable for very sensitive animals. Additionally, it can be operated both cordless with a battery and with a cord, ensuring it is always ready for use.
The GogiPet Orate, though technically a clipper for specific areas, is also popular for use as a paw clipper for larger dogs due to its wider blade, which enables faster work. It also offers multiple speed settings and can be operated with a battery or a cord.
The Heiniger Style Mini features an extra-narrow blade, is very powerful, and is one of the least vibrating paw clippers on the market. We have used it in our partner dog salons for years, and blade replacements are only occasionally ordered due to the carbon steel being particularly hard and durable. The blade can be replaced without tools.
The Aesculap Exacta and Aesculap Isis are two identical machines that differ only in their appearance. Their quality is comparable to the Heiniger Style Mini, although a (provided) Allen key is necessary for blade changes.
Clippers for Specific Areas:
Clippers designed for fine work, finishing, shows, facial grooming, and for specific tasks needed by both groomers and veterinarians for minor grooming or shaving jobs. Smaller dogs with simple and well-prepared coats can also be fully groomed. All clippers for specific areas come with length-adjustable blades and attachment combs. They are particularly characterized by their maneuverability, lightness, and the ability to be operated either corded or cordless.
Differences among clippers for specific areas:
The GogiPet Orate is the only clipper for specific areas that also offers blades in different lengths, making it not only suitable as a clipper for specific areas but also usable as a small animal clipper for smaller dogs with well-maintained coats. The attachment combs are suitable for human hair and are also used by hairdressers. With 5 speed settings, it can be optimally adjusted for especially sensitive pets, and with a runtime of up to 8 hours, it is unmatched.
The Heiniger Style Midi impresses with its ergonomic design and extraordinary styling and is a true eye-catcher in dog salons. It comes with 5 attachment combs that are perfect for finishing work.
The Andis Vida features a USB-C connection and can also be operated directly with it. It comes with 6 attachment combs and can be expanded with 8 additional color-coded combs.
The Aesculap Akkurata and Aesculap Vega are identical and differ only in their design. Both clippers come with 5 attachment combs that are suitable for finishing work.
The Optimum clippers round off the range, and these machines have also proven very successful.
We particularly recommend these clippers. In our clipper comparison, you will find the following evaluation based on emails from our customers. Even if we no longer sell some of these clippers, we welcome your current experiences.
We would be delighted to hear your opinion about small animal clippers. Please share your experiences with us at info@hundefriseur-wien.at. We compile all feedback and are happy to update our test results. The more feedback we receive, the better we can advise our customers.

Important for large animals
Blade use for pets:
For small animals such as dogs, cats and rodents, a blade can often last for many weeks or even months without having to sharpen it. Provided the coat is very well washed and brushed out and completely free of mats and the blade is oiled regularly (every 5 - 10 minutes of clipping time). See also the advice from our Pet groomer.
Blade use for large animals:
In large animals such as horses, ponies, cattles, etc., the hair is thicker and more robust than in pets, which means that there is more resistance to clipping and therefore more wear and tear.
This means that the life of the blade is generally shorter.
In order to keep the wear of the blade as low as possible, the cleanliness of the coat is of utmost importance. (Wash with good shampoo and brush out the hair well).
If the clipping blade comes into contact with dirt (e.g. dust) during clipping, the blade is immediately blunt and must be sharpened.
According to our experience, it is quite possible to shear several horses with the same blade, provided they have been washed very thoroughly beforehand and the blades are oiled every 5 - 10 minutes.
If this is not the case, several blades may be needed per horse.
The biggest challenge is to clean the coat really well.
We definitely recommend having at least one spare blade available when clipping horses, so that you don't have to interrupt the work.
We often get requests from horse owners for clippers or clipper heads with which even sandy or dirty coats can be clipped. Unfortunately, there is no such thing, the coat has to be really clean and the blades have to be well oiled regularly.

The pet clipper of the latest generation of GogiPet®.
The GogiPet® Orate dog clipper with the latest Li-Ion battery technology provides powerful clipping for up to 8 hours. If that is still not enough for you, you can even use the cordless pet clipper directly with the power adapter as cable pet clipper. The 46 mm wide, titanium ceramic blade ensures a quiet, long, good cutting performance with less heat development than with conventional blades and can be replaced when worn. If you want to remove knots from the coat, cut the hair off the muzzle, cut shaving of the paws or shave the intimate area, you can select 3 length’s with the slider between 1 and 2 mm and thus optimally adjust the length to the sensitivity of the skin. The GogiPet® Orate has gradually been adapted to the needs of dog hairdressers, veterinarians and the demanding home user, and an extra light, quiet, ergonomic and compact pet clipper has been developed for the highest demands. Extra-fine teeth of the scissor head make the GogiPet® Orate dog clipper incredibly safe in use and guarantee a very clean finish.
If the hair of the pet is well washed, dried and combed, this small pet clipper is even used for complete clip. (Attachment combs with 4 lengths 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm included free of charge).
Because the GogiPet® Orate is an exceptionally quiet and low-vibration pet clipper, it is also ideal for anxious pets and especially for puppies who have to get used to a pet clipper.
Characteristics of the GogiPet Orate pet clipper:

- Titanium ceramic blade
- Portable titanium ceramic blade for long sharpness and little and low heat generation

Here you will find the blade for the GogiPet Orates.
Application of the GogiPet® Orate pet clipper:
The GogiPet® Orate clipper has been especially designed for small areas to you can quickly and easily cut the paws and bales, remove matted knots and tangles from the coat, shave the snout, shave the ears, clean the intimate area, or the veterinarian shave the body to see the veins. If you want to keep some body parts short regularly, such as the snout or the intimate area, you start with the longer setting and goes down bit by bit so that the skin can get used to the short clip.
Since the small pet clipper is so strong, we have also provided free-of-charge attachment combs, which are primarily intended for the finishing, but also for the complete clipp, the GogiPet® Orate is becoming more and more popular with dog groomers as it is so maneuverable and light.
What is to be considered if you intend a complete clip:
As with every shearing, the animal must be bathed, melted and dried. Just when you are able to glide through the fur with the comb you can start with the complete clip. Observe the direction of growth and always cut in the direction of growth in order to achieve an even length.
You should pay attention:
The teeth of a small pet clipper are high-performance blades which must always be treated well in order to achieve a long service life. The low-vibration, extremely small teeth ensure that the pet clipper does not tickle and that the risk of injury is kept extremely small, small stones and coarse dust act on the small knives like a rock on a hedge shears, therefore always wash the fur and brush well.
If you want to remove feltings, please notice that you cannot cut directly into a mat but only under it, so these places may become very short. The blade must always be cleaned with the supplied cleaning brush and well-oiled otherwise the blade is glued and in extreme cases even has to be replaced.

Tolle Hundeschermaschine
