Differences between the GogiPet clippers
First you should ask yourself for what purpose you need the clippers. Do you want to clipper a complete pet or only areas such as paws, knot removal or other parts. Do you need the dog clippers or cat clippers regularly like the pet groomer or do you need clippers for private use?
These clippers are ideal for partial grooming of small and large animals. They also allow for the full grooming of smaller pets with easy‑care coats, as well as the precise trimming of paw pads.
They are therefore versatile tools, suitable as dog clippers, cat clippers, rabbit clippers, or clippers for guinea pigs and other small animals. Both professional groomers and pet owners appreciate their reliable performance and ease of use.
The GogiPet Tornado TC517 is a paw clipper with a narrow blade. For shaving between the pads, a paw clipper is recommended instead of paw scissors to avoid accidentally cutting the skin between the toes while removing matted knots. A paw clipper is also often used for the intimate area, armpits, and for shaving the muzzle smoothly.
Advantage: A true hybrid paw clipper that can be operated not only with a battery but also directly from the socket. The highlight of the GogiPet Tornado is that you can also adjust the speed to suit the sensitivity of the animal. The paw clipper is very light and extremely low in vibration, so it doesn't tickle during clipping
Disadvantage: Unlike the GogiPet Orate , only one length of the narrow blade is available for a paw clipper, which can simply be replaced when it becomes dull.
The GogiPet Orate belongs to the partial range of clippers and is the perfect complement to the larger, heavier clippers. It is extra light in the hand and extremely quiet. If the dog or cat is completely mat-free, the GogiPet Orate can also be used for complete clipping without any problems. In the pet grooming salon, the GogiPet Orate is used as a partial dog clipper. For personal use, the GogiPet Orate is very popular for complete clipping due to its extra good price-performance ratio, which is why the GogiPet Orate is the most popular of our dog and cat clippers among private users. The GogiPet Orate uses its own extra fine and light precision blades and is the best clipper in its class. Due to the extra fine teeth, the GogiPet Orate is also the safest clipper to use and can easily be used by inexperienced users.
The GogiPet Orate has also become so popular with pet groomers due to its manoeuvrability that GogiPet has responded to the request for longer blades that cut optimally on felt-free animals. The GogiPet Orate thus closes the gap in extra light, manoeuvrable clippers with battery and mains operation.
Conclusion:
GogiPet Tornado®: Thanks to its narrow blade, it is perfectly suited for shaving the paw pads.
GogiPet Orate®: Ideal for dogs and cats during home grooming, and the perfect complementary clipper for professional groomers and veterinarians.
- Very quiet
- Very lightweight
- Extremely low vibration (no tickling)
- With multiple speed settings, they are also well suited for anxious animals
- Can be operated with cable or cordless
- Affordable replacement blades
If you want to groom smaller animals with easy‑care coats, the GogiPet Orate clipper is a real insider tip. Compared to typical small‑animal clippers, it is significantly lighter and can be used both on battery and mains power. This clipper is particularly low‑vibration, making it ideal for paws because it does not tickle. The GogiPet Orate hybrid clipper is the only clipper in its class for which additional genuine clipper blades in various lengths are available. This makes the GogiPet Orate the most popular clipper of its kind among home users.

Successfully style dogs with a dog clipper.
Our dog groomer explains how to do a dog harness correctly.
With the purchase of a pet clipper (shearing machine) it is not done, simply switch on the pet clipper and start a clipp works in the fewest cases.
Our professional dog hairdresser with years of experience in dog grooming and dog styling has put together valuable advices for you to make sure that clipp will work.
Here are the basic tips on how a clipper works
The preparation:
Before you can start with the pet clipper, the coat must be clean and free of mats and tangles, please note that you cannot cut into mats but only underneath the felted area(s). The clipp can only be done as long as the felt is removed from the skin.
Shearing heads (blades) become blunt very quickly if the coat is not cleaned well before.
The dog must be bathed well before. First the pre-wash is to do to remove the coarsest dirt and excess grease. Then rinse the coat well and shampoo the dog a second time to get the coat in the right condition.
The dog groomer usually uses the universal shampoo for the first shampooing and the breed specific shampoo for the second shampooing (black, white, brown...) If you bathe the dog at home, you can of course use the breed specific shampoo twice, but it is important that you shampoo twice.
How to do:
The water temperature should be between 37 and 38 degrees (not lukewarm, which is too cold for the dog). Put the shower head on the coat and soak the coat well. (The shower head should always be held very close to the body, so it is comfortable for the dog, do not bring water into the ears, if necessary use a cotton ball to plug them).
For shorter hairs, it is best to use a rubber brush and massage the shampoo back and forth to remove loose hair. For longer hairs, brush the shampoo in the direction of growth (do not brush back and forth - you would confuse the hair even more instead of untangling it). Rinse out the shampoo.
Repeat the steps and try to loosen knots already now with the brush, then rinse the shampoo thoroughly. (If your dog has some more mats and tangels, it is best to use the longhair shampoo, this loosens the knots best)
It depends. For dogs that have a lot of volume in the coat, use the volume balm, it also helps to keep the hair upright when clipping and shear cutting.
In case of long hanging hair or with all dogs that have mats and tangels in their fur, it is essential that you use for the dog a hair mask. (the mask does not need to be washed out thoroughly, it helps to remove felt and prevents new felt, just rinse a little).
With long hair, it is important that you do not rub back and forth, otherwise you would confuse the hair and have to untangle it again with difficulty. Therefore, spread the water in the direction of growth or suck off the water by pressing. The GogiPet magic towel is best suited for this purpose as it absorbs a lot of water and can be used again immediately until the dog is as dry as possible.
Now the actual drying proces , de-mating and brushing starts. Ideally, a dog dryer is used for this, as it does not dry the coat, but blows the water out of the coat together with the dirt and lime residues and also dissolves mats and tangles. At the same time you should remove felt and knots with mechanical means.
With stubborn mats you have to proceed relatively radically if it can't be loosened, use a mat cuter (mat breaker) to cut the plates open.
Larger knots can be cut into pieces with the knot cutter (mat splitter) until you can finally untangle them with an untangling hook. Then brush out smaller knots, only when you can glide through the coat with the dog comb is the coat ready for clipping.
If your dog breed has undercoat, this will be completely or partially removed with the Coat Master.
Brush the coat against the direction of growth and cut the coat in the direction of growth, then brush against the direction of growth again and cut again in the direction of growth. Then do the same again to get a smooth and even clipp.
Always pay attention to the direction of growth, because if you cut once with and once against the line you will get different lengths. (Only in dog breeds where the coat cannot be combed up, the shearing is done against the direction of growth, but also here consistently against the direction of growth, but these are exceptions)
Please note:
It looks better if the legs are longer than the body shape, so the legs are usually cut with scissors. Legs also look better with a scissors cut, because you can style the legs (even if they are crooked) visually nice and straight. The transitions from the shorter body to the longer legs are worked with modelling scissors (thinning scissors) to create an even (invisible) transition. For most breeds, the tail is also best trimmed with the modelling scissors (thinning scissors).
The hair on the ears and between the pads is best removed with a paw clipper, as they are very low in vibration and do not tickle, very experienced dog groomers can also do this with paw scissors, but a paw clipper, is always safer.
These are the basic tips that our dog groomer has put together for you to be able to perform a successful clipping.
Get your dog excited about clipping. Your dog knows very well that he is beautifully made, we have seen many dogs strut proudly from our dog salons, most of all he is happy about a reward. How about as praise for the good cooperation with a Fair Trade dog toy?
Personal experience with clippers
Personal experience with clippers in the clipper comparison
Our experience with the pet clippers is based on reports and experiences in our dog salon, our pet groomer partners, our pet groomer school, our customers (both pet groomers, veterinarians and private users) and our well-known dog breeders.
Top clippers for professionals:
- Heiniger Opal
- Heiniger Saphir
- Heiniger Onyx
- Andis corded clippers
- Andis cordless clippers
- Andis hybrid clippers
- Aesculap Favorita
- Aesculap Fav5
- GogiPet Orate
For pet groomers who work continuously, these clippers are likely the only suitable options. You can use these clippers without hesitation for continuous operation. So far, we have had almost no repairs, even though they are our best‑selling clippers.
Differences between the leading pet clippers:
The Heiniger Opal has now pushed all other clippers from first place. It is the best‑selling battery‑powered clipper, and Heiniger also offers a 2‑year warranty. In terms of speed, noise level, and battery performance, the Heiniger Opal is unbeatable. Closely following in second place are the Heiniger Saphir models, which essentially differ only in design and equipment; the Saphir clippers themselves are technically identical. New: Since 2026, Heiniger has expanded the range with the Heiniger Onyx corded clipper with 2 speeds, which prevents tangling thanks to its rotating cable and impresses with another innovative development from Switzerland.
The new generation of Andis clippers has also significantly improved in terms of quality and has now pushed Aesculap, the former leader, into third place. With the Andis beSpoke, there is for the first time a clipper that can be charged wirelessly. The Andis Pulse ZR II generation offers 5 speeds and can be optimally adjusted for sensitive animals, and the Andis eMERGE completes the hybrid (battery and corded) clipper range at a particularly affordable price.
Aesculap Favorita clippers with the specially developed Slide blade system are especially popular among dog groomers who are already familiar with this system. They, as well as the Aesculap Fav5 clippers with Snap‑On blade system, stand out due to their metal oscillating lever, which protects against wear for a very long time even in continuous operation.
As an additional secondary clipper, the GogiPet Orate hybrid clipper is very popular because it is particularly lightweight and easy to handle. The GogiPet Orate dog clipper is mainly used for small trimming tasks and is the only clipper in its class that features interchangeable blades in different lengths. Many dog groomers also use the GogiPet Orate for full grooming on small, mat‑free dogs. It convinces with its ease of use and significantly simplifies grooming.
Top clippers for breeders:
- GogiPet Orate
- Andis corded clippers
- Andis hybrid clippers
- Heiniger Onyx
- Heiniger Saphir clippers
- Optimum Ultra
- Aesculap Durati
- Oster Golden A5
- Wahl KM2
- AGC
The ideal clippers for breeders and part‑time dog groomers are the slightly more affordable models that still deliver excellent performance. Breeders who use clippers for small breeds or only for partial trimming are particularly enthusiastic about the GogiPet Orate, as it is extremely lightweight and, with its specially developed blades, performs well even on slightly longer hair. Since breeders usually do not use a clipper for full grooming on a regular basis, a corded clipper such as the Heiniger Onyx or Heiniger Saphir Cord is preferred. Apart from being lighter, these clippers also have significantly lower maintenance costs, because a battery that is not used regularly tends to fail prematurely. Fans of cordless clippers appreciate the Heiniger Saphir models or the Aesculap Durati. The absolute insider tip from our dog groomers for these Snap‑On clippers are the GogiPet Titan ceramic clip blades and the GogiPet Premium clipper blades. They run the smoothest, do not heat up as quickly, and the blade can be easily replaced when it becomes dull—without having to send the entire blade head to a sharpening service.
Differences between the professional pet clippers:
GogiPet dog clippers are particularly known for their excellent price‑performance ratio and stand for outstanding quality.
The Heiniger Saphir clippers from Switzerland have been known for their high standards for many years and offer not only warranty but also a 2‑year guarantee.
The Andis corded clippers with 2 speeds impress with their excellent price within the professional clipper class. The also very affordable Andis hybrid clippers are extremely maneuverable and can be used with a cord if needed, eliminating battery issues entirely.
The Aesculap Durati clipper has been improved with a higher stroke rate. However, unlike the long‑established Aesculap small‑animal clippers, the Durati features a plastic oscillating lever.
Due to the relatively high number of complaints, we no longer carry Oster, Wahl, Moser, and AGC clippers and instead focus on top‑quality dog clippers, as the well‑being of the animals and proper grooming are especially important to us.
Clippers for private users:
- GogiPet Orate
- Heiniger Onyx
- Heiniger Saphir clippers
- Andis hybrid clippers
- Optimum Ultra
- Aesculap Durati
For small dog breeds and cat breeds, the GogiPet Orate is the most appreciated. With proper use, a full-body grooming is also possible, even though the GogiPet Orate was designed as a partial-area clipper. Since even professional groomers like to use this clipper for full grooming on small dog breeds, GogiPet has developed longer special blades for the Orate, as the included attachment combs are mainly suitable for human hair. When it comes to fine work and partial trimming, the GogiPet Orate definitely leads the way because it is particularly small and lightweight. For small dogs and cats, it can even be used for full grooming if they are thoroughly bathed, brushed, and combed.
The Optimum Ultra, Heiniger Onyx, and Heiniger Saphir Cord are also excellent clippers, but due to their higher prices, they are not as commonly chosen by private users. If you use the clipper very frequently, a cordless clipper may be suitable, such as the particularly affordable Heiniger Saphir dog clippers with a single battery. However, if you only use the clipper occasionally, we recommend a corded clipper, as batteries wear out quickly when they are not used regularly. If you cannot decide between cordless or corded operation, the Andis eMERGE models are the best choice, as they can be used both with and without a cable. Forgetting to charge the battery becomes a thing of the past with hybrid clippers. Wahl and Moser machines have been removed from our range due to poor feedback.
Differences between high-quality dog clippers:
GogiPet Orate: For small dog breeds and cat breeds or as a partial-area clipper. The hybrid clipper can be operated with a battery or directly via power cable. Special blades available.
Heiniger Onyx and Saphir: Top Swiss quality with a 2‑year warranty.
Andis Hybrid: Corded or cordless operation depending on the workload, suitable for all coat types.
Aesculap Durati: After its release, the Aesculap Durati was the number one bestseller among private users due to the strong Aesculap brand name. However, due to recurring issues, the Durati has lost significant relevance and slipped to last place. Nevertheless, it is still considered a professional-grade clipper.
Paw clippers:
Paw clippers are particularly lightweight, quiet, and low‑vibration. These small clippers are primarily used for safely trimming the hair between the paw pads and are especially known for their barely noticeable vibration, ensuring the grooming process does not tickle. They are also very helpful for smooth trimming of ears, muzzles, armpits, the intimate and anal area, as well as for removing knots that cannot be brushed out.
Differences between paw clippers:
The GogiPet Tornado Hybrid has risen to the top, being the only paw clipper with 3 speed settings, allowing it to be adjusted for particularly sensitive animals. It can also be operated with a cable in addition to battery mode, ensuring it is always ready for use.
The GogiPet Orate actually belongs to the partial‑area clippers, but for larger dogs it is also frequently used as a paw clipper because its wider blade allows faster work. It also offers multiple speeds and can be operated both with battery and cable.
The Heiniger Style Mini features an extra‑narrow blade, is very powerful, and is one of the lowest‑vibration paw clippers on the market. We have been using it for several years in our partner grooming salons, and replacement blades are only ordered occasionally because the carbon steel is extremely hard and durable. The blade can be changed without tools.
The Aesculap Exacta and Aesculap Isis are two identical machines that differ only in appearance. Their quality is equivalent to the Heiniger Style Mini, but an included hex key is required to change the blade.
Partial‑area clippers:
Clippers for fine work, finishing, show preparation, facial trimming, and clippers used by groomers and veterinarians for smaller tasks and close shaving. Smaller dogs with simple and well‑prepared coats can also be fully clipped. All partial‑area clippers feature an adjustable blade and attachment combs. They are primarily characterized by their maneuverability, light weight, and the option to operate them with either cable or battery.
Differences between partial‑area clippers:
The GogiPet Orate is the only partial‑area clipper for which blades in different lengths are available. Therefore, it is not only suitable as a partial‑area clipper but can also be used as a small‑animal clipper for smaller dogs with well‑maintained coats. The attachment combs are suitable for human hair and are also used by hairdressers. With 5 speed levels, it can be optimally adjusted for particularly sensitive pets, and with a runtime of up to 8 hours, it is unbeatable.
The Heiniger Style Midi impresses with its ergonomic shape and exceptional design, making it a real eye‑catcher in any grooming salon. It comes with 5 attachment combs that are perfect for finishing work.
The Andis Vida features a USB‑C connection and can also be operated directly via USB‑C. It comes with 6 attachment combs and can be expanded with 8 color‑coded combs.
The Aesculap Akkurata and Aesculap Vega are identical and differ only in design. Both clippers come with 5 attachment combs suitable for finishing work.
The Optimum clippers complete the range. These machines have also proven themselves exceptionally well.
These clippers are particularly recommended by us. In the clipper comparison below, you will find our evaluation based on customer emails. Even if we no longer carry some of these clippers, we appreciate your current experiences.
We are always happy to hear your opinion on small‑animal clippers. Please send your experiences to info@hundefriseur-wien.at. We collect all reports and are happy to update our test results. The more feedback we receive, the better we can advise our customers.

Important for large animals
Blade use for pets:
For small animals such as dogs, cats and rodents, a blade can often last for many weeks or even months without having to sharpen it. Provided the coat is very well washed and brushed out and completely free of mats and the blade is oiled regularly (every 5 - 10 minutes of clipping time). See also the advice from our Pet groomer.
Blade use for large animals:
In large animals such as horses, ponies, cattles, etc., the hair is thicker and more robust than in pets, which means that there is more resistance to clipping and therefore more wear and tear.
This means that the life of the blade is generally shorter.
In order to keep the wear of the blade as low as possible, the cleanliness of the coat is of utmost importance. (Wash with good shampoo and brush out the hair well).
If the clipping blade comes into contact with dirt (e.g. dust) during clipping, the blade is immediately blunt and must be sharpened.
According to our experience, it is quite possible to shear several horses with the same blade, provided they have been washed very thoroughly beforehand and the blades are oiled every 5 - 10 minutes.
If this is not the case, several blades may be needed per horse.
The biggest challenge is to clean the coat really well.
We definitely recommend having at least one spare blade available when clipping horses, so that you don't have to interrupt the work.
We often get requests from horse owners for clippers or clipper heads with which even sandy or dirty coats can be clipped. Unfortunately, there is no such thing, the coat has to be really clean and the blades have to be well oiled regularly.

The replaceable 46 mm wide blade is adjustable to 4 lengths (0.8 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.6 mm and 2 mm) for precision work. Therefore, you can gradually reduce the length for sensitive skin, for example, if you want to cut out knots, trim the muzzle, shave out the pads or the genital area.
The fixed steel shaving head upper blade of the GogiPet Orate dog clipper is titanium coated and the movable blade made of titanium ceramic is very resistant and ensures less heat development.
Titanium ceramic stands for special durability and is also used in dentistry for implants.

Pet clipper from professionals:
With many years of experience, the GogiPet® Orate High-Speed pet clipper has been continuously adapted to the needs of the dog groomer, veterinarian and the demanding home user. The result is an extra light, quiet, low-vibration, ergonomic and compact battery clipper for highest demands.
The closely spaced teeth of the blade make the GogiPet® Orate dog clipper incredibly safe to use and guarantee a very clean finish.

Dog clipper with 5 speed levels up to 7000 rpm:
The GogiPet® Orate High Speed pet clipper is the fastest clipper in its class and has 5 speed settings.
With this, even very sensitive dogs can be clipped, which react extremely to different vibrations and noises and in order to optimally adapt to the application area.
The GogiPet Orate is therefore the most flexible pet clipper on the market, is suitable for all small animals and is also ideal for hair and beard trimming of humans.
Attachment combs support you in finishing after a scissor cut.
Applications of the GogiPet Orate high-speed dog clipper:
- The GogiPet Orate has been designed for partial shearing, because the dog clipper with its light weight of only 230g is very manoeuvrable and even inaccessible places are easily accessible. The very fine toothing protects against injuries which can easily happen with larger clippers in the armpits and in the genital area.
- The GogiPet® Orate is also excellent to use as a paw clipper for paws and pads, and the very low vibration makes it ideal for ticklish dogs. Here too, the tight set of teeth protects against injuries.
- Fine work on the face and ears is a breeze with the GogiPet® Orate dog clipper.
- With the GogiPet® Orate you can even do a total clipping of smaller dogs* with special blades, you can find the matching bladesin the accessories tab.
- In the veterinary field, the GogiPet® Orate is mainly used to expose the veins or to shave out parts before surgery.
- Last but not least, the GogiPet® Orate hair clipper is also used by the hairdresser, as the clipper is ideally suited for human hair.
In order to do a complete clipping, it is obligatory that the coat is washed, detangled and easy to comb. You will find suitable Orate blades in the clipper blades section of our paw clippers. Attachment combs with 4 lengths 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm are already included in the delivery and are suitable for finishing and can usually also be used for cutting human hair. To ensure that the clipping really works well, please also read the information that our dog groomer has compiled for you.
How to do a dog clipping and what should be observed.
In order to maintain a consistent cutting result for as long as possible, the washable cutter head should be cleaned after each use with the GogiPet special blade cleaning brush and oiled well with the clipper oil also supplied. If the cutting performance decreases, you can replace the blade.

- clipper for dogs, cats and small pets

- Can also be used as a complete clipper for smaller pets with special blades when the coat is completely clean and combed out.
Application range of the GogiPet® Orate High-Speed pet clipper:
The GogiPet® Orate clipper has been specially designed for small areas so that you can quickly and easily cut out paws and pads, remove matted accounts from the coat, clip the muzzle, shave the ears, keep the genital area clean, or for example the vet can expose veins or body parts. If you want to keep parts of the body short regularly, such as the muzzle or the genital area, start with the longer setting and go down bit by bit so that the skin can get used to the short clipping.
Because the small clipper is so powerful that it can also be used for a complete clipping of smaller felt-free pets. Only the GogiPet Orate offers this special feature, as special blades up to a length of 12 mm are available for the small pet clippers. This is why the GogiPet® Orate is becoming increasingly popular for complete clipping, both with the discerning home user and the pet groomer, because it is so manoeuvrable and light. The attachment combs supplied are designed for finishing after a scissor cut, but can also be used for human haircuts to adjust the cutting length.
What is to be considered if you intend to do a complete clipping:
As with any clipping, the pet must be bathed, untangled and dried. Only when you can glide through the coat with a comb, you can start with the complete shearing. Pay attention to the direction of growth and always cut in the direction of growth to achieve an even coat.
What you should consider:
The teeth of a pet clipper are high performance blades which must always be treated well to achieve a long service life. The low-vibration, extremely small teeth ensure that the clipper does not tickle and that the risk of injury is kept extremely low. Small stones and coarse dust act on the small blades like rocks on a hedge trimmer, so always wash the fur and brush it out well. If you want to remove felt, please note that you cannot cut directly into a felt plate, but only underneath it, so these areas can become very bald. The blade must always be cleaned with the cleaning brush and oiled well, otherwise the blade will stick together and in extreme cases even have to be replaced.
